In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey mentioned that Liverpool are facing stiff competition for Feyenoord midfielder Gjivai Zechiel. It has been claimed that the Reds would have to rival Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Brighton & Hove Albion and Nottingham Forest in the race to land the Dutch talent next year.

Zechiel’s Excellent Form In Dutch Football

Zechiel has enjoyed a great run of form at the Dutch club after he produced a run of impressive displays for the final third. The 22-year-old has scored five times and earned four assists in eight appearances for Feyenoord this season in all competitions.

The Dutch sensation is currently among the most talented central midfielders in the Eredivisie. Hence, it is no wonder that the Reds are among the clubs hoping to land Zechiel next year.

His current contract at the Dutch club will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for Liverpool to sign him on a cut-price deal this January or at the end of this season.

Liverpool Are Facing Stiff Competition For Zechiel: Is He Worth The Fight?

Zechiel is a good tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to make some interceptions for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and is a good passer as well.

The Dutch talent can shoot the ball with power from long range and has the vision to engineer some inviting chances for others around him in the final third. Zechiel is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can contribute by scoring and creating a lot of important goals for his team. However, there are a few concerns on whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Reds manage to win the race for his services.

We can expect Zechiel to bring more quality and depth to Liverpool boss Andoni Iraoola’s midfield. He has what it takes to serve as a good rotational piece in the Merseyside club’s squad.
