Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi (18) is yet to decide on the country he’ll represent at the highest international level. The 18-year-old has long been billed as a midfield prodigy following his breakout performances with formative club Lille OSC. Les Dogues are reportedly seeking a club-record sale for Bouaddi, which would surpass Nicolas Pépé’s €80m move to Arsenal.
Bouaddi is eligible to play for France and Morocco. The French FA is reportedly pushing to steer the midfielder towards Les Bleus. For this March international break, Bouaddi has been given the skipper’s armband for Gérard Baticle’s U21 team.
“For now, I haven’t made a decision“, Bouaddi said in a press conference transcribed by L’Equipe. “Of course, choosing a national team is a major decision in a career. I’m giving myself some time. I don’t want to rush things.” The Lille midfielder adds that he felt no pressure regarding the choice of his national team allegiance before the 2026 World Cup.
