Aziz Yıldırım is lining up Manchester City defender Nathan Aké as his marquee election pledge for the Fenerbahçe presidency, according to Turkish-Football.com.

The club’s general assembly is scheduled for June 6-7, 2026, and Yıldırım is moving to convince members he can take the club back to the top of Turkish football. The report says his sporting committee has been working to prepare a move for the Netherlands international.

His plan envisages Aké partnering Milan Škriniar, a combination already dubbed the Wall of Kadıköy by the Turkish press. The report adds that early contact has been made with Aké’s representatives to gauge interest in İstanbul.

While Aké remains important to the Premier League champions, the prospect of a guaranteed starting place and a central role in a major project is described as attractive as he enters the next stage of his career.

The pursuit is also cast as a statement to rival candidate Hakan Safi, who has targeted Robert Lewandowski, with Yıldırım emphasising defensive stability and European pedigree. He has pledged to bring back Aykut Kocaman and Dirk Kuyt to lead the technical staff, underlining a return to the club’s core values.

As the vote nears, the Aké gambit is presented as one of the most ambitious in recent Süper Lig history. If Yıldırım wins, attention would shift to the Etihad to explore whether a deal could take the City defender to the Ülker Stadium.
