Bahia edge late drama to climb into fourth

Bahia beat Remo 2-1 at Arena Fonte Nova, rising from fifth to fourth in the Brasileirão after a late exchange of penalties.
Jean Lucas put the hosts ahead in the 20th minute, arriving centrally to turn in Cristian Olivera's cross. The Tricolor Baiano threatened again before the break when Erick Pulga hit the right post.
After the restart, Leão Azul improved. Substitute Vitor Bueno forced Ronaldo into saves, while Marcelo Rangel kept them in it with a string of stops.
With time running out, Alejo Veliz won a penalty for the Tricolor Baiano after a foul by Matheus Felipe. Luciano converted from the spot in the first minute of stoppage time. Gabriel Bill then earned a penalty for Leão Azul in the fourth minute of stoppage time, and Bueno converted in the sixth minute.
Seven minutes of added time had been indicated as the finale turned frantic.
The Tricolor Baiano controlled much of the game with 62.7% possession. Rangel stood out for Leão Azul, making seven saves.
