Hampton has had slightly less silverware this term yet remains Chelsea and England’s first choice, lifting the English League Cup.

Berger, 35, with Gotham FC, won the United States Championship and the United States Super Cup.

Coll, 25, impressed for Barcelona and Spain, sweeping five trophies from five available. She is also among the Ballon d'Or nominees.

Lorena, 29 with Kansas City Current, won the United States regular season Shield and was named the competition’s best goalkeeper. The league also saw standout displays from Seattle Reign’s Claudia Dickey, a new starter for the United States.

The fifth nominee, Japan’s Ayaka Yamashita, 30, dominated in Asia with her national team and was decisive in Manchester City’s league and FA Cup double.
