Ballon d'Or 2026: OL Lyonnes well represented across shortlists

OL Lyonnes are in contention across all major Ballon d'Or 2026 awards, spanning best team, coach, young talent and best player.
According to Le Progres, Jonatan Giraldez, a Champions League finalist in his first season with OL Lyonnes, is among five nominees for coach of the year. He is shortlisted with Sweden's Andrée Jeglertz of Manchester City, Denmark's Nils Nielsen, Japan head coach, Spain's Pere Romeu, who succeeded him at Barcelona, and fellow Swede Elena Sadiku, who worked at Celtic then Hacken, winners of the Europa League.
American Lily Yohannes, 19, is among five contenders for the Young Talent prize.
Four Lyonnes players are named in the 30-strong Ballon d'Or list, defenders Selma Bacha, 25, and Wendie Renard, 36, plus attacking midfielders Melchie Dumornay, 23, and Scotland's Caroline Weir, 31, a close-season arrival from Real Madrid.
OL Lyonnes also feature on the five-team shortlist for club of the season with Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Mexico's Club Américain, winners of the Concacaf Champions League.
