Journalist Saber Desfarges reports this afternoon that Bamba Dieng has not passed his medical with Lorient, and will not return to Marseille.
The Senegal international was on the verge of a move to the Breton side in a transfer that would have potentially seen Terem Moffi – who instead wants to join Nice – go the other way. However, it appears that Ligue 1’s second-highest scorer this season will remain at the club for the time being, even if he does want to leave.
Foot Mercato had reported earlier today that the AFCON winner’s medical went well, but that there were concerns over the knee injury that saw his move to Nice scuppered at the end of last summer’s window, in what had been a dramatic turnaround just as he looked to be joining Leeds hours earlier. According to RMC, Dieng and his agents were intent on making the move to Lorient to find playing time and did not want to return to Marseille.
