Palmeiras had two positives on Thursday morning as Barboza and Gustavo Gómez trained on the pitch, though apart from the group, after the squad reconvened following Copa do Brasil quarter-final qualification. Both players remain uncertain for the weekend.

According to Globo.com, the club’s Health and Performance unit is closely monitoring the pair. The captain is in the final phase of recovery from a thigh muscle injury, while Barboza missed the trip to Cuiabá with a foot trauma.

Both are doubts for the Brasileiro meeting with Internacional. Abel Ferreira is also without Bruno Fuchs and used Murilo and Benedetti in midweek.

Paulinho and Khellven followed indoor recovery programmes and are expected to spend longer on the sidelines as they recover from thigh injuries. Jefté is also in treatment.

Players who logged more than 45 minutes on Wednesday completed regeneration at the recovery and neuroscience centre, while the rest worked on positional build-up, crossing and finishing, plus small-sided games.

There will be at least two more sessions before Sunday’s 16:00 kick-off at Nubank Parque. Palmeiras defend an eight-point lead over Flamengo, who have a game in hand.
