Centre-back Barboza completed full training on Friday after a foot knock, moving closer to a Palmeiras return against Internacional on Sunday at Nubank Parque in the 22nd round of the Brasileirão, kick-off 16:00 Brasília time.
According to Globo.com, he was rested for Wednesday’s Copa do Brasil tie against Fortaleza due to the trauma.
Fellow defender Gustavo Gómez continued rehab from a right thigh injury, working separately on the pitch under the Health and Performance unit’s supervision.
At the club’s Football Academy, Abel Ferreira’s staff ran technical drills focused on build-up play, passing, crossing and finishing.
The squad train again on Saturday morning to settle the line-up against a side sitting 16th. Palmeiras are unbeaten in four against Colorado, including three straight wins, and are expected to restore a near full-strength team after midweek rotation.
With a 3-0 first-leg lead over Fortaleza in the Copa do Brasil, Abel kept only goalkeeper Carlos Miguel, centre-back Murilo and midfielder Marlon Freitas in the side, making changes in all other positions.
If Barboza does return, a possible XI could feature Carlos Miguel in goal, a back three of Murilo, Emiliano Martinez and Barboza or Benedetti, a midfield of Allan, Marlon Freitas, Andreas Pereira and Piquerez, and a front three of Arias, Mauricio and Flaco López or Ramón Sosa.
