Barboza has criticised changes at Nilton Santos after Botafogo replaced corridor images that included former players. The Palmeiras defender posted on social media, saying history cannot be erased.
According to Globo.com, the update was not aimed at Barboza. The club removed photos focused on players who have left, with Marlon Freitas, now at Palmeiras, also no longer pictured. A photo of former SAF head John Textor was likewise taken down.
Barboza still features in wider images from the Libertadores and Brasileirão trophy presentations alongside team-mates.
The centre-back was embroiled in prolonged talks over a new deal. He reached a verbal agreement in January but did not sign and the issue dragged on for months.
In April, the club were unhappy with demands from his representative, who sought guarantees over the continuity of two directors. Botafogo came to view his departure as likely and considered an extension improbable.
He joined Palmeiras in mid May. Having arrived at Botafogo in January 2024, he was an important figure in the Libertadores and Brasileirão triumphs, making 123 appearances.
Botafogo face Vitória on Thursday at 19:30 Brasília time at Nilton Santos in a rescheduled Campeonato Brasileiro fourth round match.
