Former vice-president and sporting director of FC Barcelona, Jordi Mestre, made several revelations in a recent interview with Sports360.
He notably revisited Lionel Messi's departure, Neymar's transfer, and his strained relationship with current president Joan Laporta. For Mestre, the Argentine will always be the most important player in the club’s history:
No matter what we do for Messi, it will never be enough. What he contributed was exceptional, both on the pitch and financially. Yes, his salary was high, but he brought the club a fortune.
According to him, the club's summer tours with Messi were incomparable to those without him. Mestre also claims that relations between the Messi camp and Laporta are now very complicated:
I know from close sources that Messi and his family are very angry with Laporta, really very angry.
