It is only a matter of a few days before Barcelona fans get to see Ansu Fati back in action in the Blaugrana colours after over a year.

The 21-year-old La Masia prodigy left the club on loan last year, joining Brighton & Hove Albion in England, where he endured a rather difficult stint.

Back at Barça in the summer, the young forward was making a positive impression in training before a foot injury put him out on the sidelines.

Over the past week or so, Fati has resumed group training and has completed a couple of full sessions as well, putting him very close to a return.

Now, according to Sique Rodriguez on Que T’hi Jugues, Ansu Fati happens to be the Barcelona player who has surprised manager Hansi Flick the most in training sessions.

As mentioned earlier, the Spanish international was making positive strides during pre-season training before injury, with Flick and his staff said to be seriously impressed by the attacker.

It appears that Fati has continued to make a big impression on the German tactician in the week that he has resumed training with the group.

Fati’s imminent return provides the manager with a multitude of options in attack, considering that he can operate on the left flank, as a centre-forward, or even as a secondary striker playing behind Robert Lewandowski.

Reports in the recent past have suggested that Flick plans to use the 21-year-old attacker as a No. 9 and has tremendous faith in him.

“We are happy to have him with us again. In the coming weeks, he will have a chance and that is good for the team,” Flick said of Fati this past week.

“Gavi is also taking part in the training sessions. It’s good to have both of them. Yes, we put the focus on Ansu for Thursday,” he added, hinting that the youngster could make his return against AS Monaco.

Having seen his once-promising career get bogged down by injuries, Ansu will be hoping to make the most of his opportunities in the weeks to come.

At 21, he has time on his side and it is only a matter of him staying fit and regaining the confidence that made him one of the most prodigious youngsters in football not long ago.
