Barcelona academy defender not considering departure despite Premier League interest – report | OneFootball

Hector Fort’s future at FC Barcelona is not guaranteed. The Catalan club are in favour of the young right-back leaving, either on loan or in a permanent transfer, and there is no shortage of offers.

Interest has come from both Spanish and foreign clubs, particularly from the Bundesliga and the Premier League, reports MARCA.

However, the 20-year-old academy graduate is not currently considering leaving, although a departure is by no means ruled out.

Fulham among clubs interested

The Spain Under-20 international, whose Barcelona contract runs until June 2029, has several proposals on the table.

A number of domestic and foreign clubs, including Alvaro Arbeloa’s Fulham, have expressed their interest in Fort in recent days. The approaches have been made both to Barcelona and to the player’s representatives.

However, for now, the defender, who can play at right-back and left-back, is not considering leaving Spotify Camp Nou again. Last season, however, he was initially reluctant to leave Barça as well, before eventually joining Elche on loan.

He made 17 appearances for the Alicante side, including 14 in LaLiga and three in the Copa del Rey. His involvement was limited by a significant shoulder injury.

Tough competition for places

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has Jules Kounde, who is expected to be the starter in the right-back position, as well as Eric Garcia.

The Blaugrana also appear increasingly likely to re-sign Joao Cancelo, who is finalizing his return to the club on a permanent transfer from Al Hilal.

In addition, Xavi Espart is one of the academy players who has impressed during pre-season and won over Flick.

For these reasons, Barça would prefer Fort to leave, ideally on a permanent transfer, but the player, who made 30 appearances for Barcelona across the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons, has not yet seriously considered a move.

The young La Masia prospect is waiting to see how the transfer market develops and what the final Barcelona squad looks like. His decision will depend to a large extent on the role and playing time Flick can offer him.
