Barcelona’s second offer for Man City midfielder worth €65 million plus €5 million add-ons | OneFootball

Negotiations between FC Barcelona and Manchester City over Rodri’s transfer are moving at a frantic pace.

After the midfielder made it clear to the Cityzens that he wished to join the Blaugrana, refusing Real Madrid in the process, negotiations are progressing between the two clubs are progressing steadily.

Despite Enzo Maresca’s announcement suggesting that he expected Rodri to return to Manchester City’s training sessions it is believed that the transfer is getting closer.

Barcelona increase their offer

Now, according to SPORT, Barcelona are preparing to make their second offer to sign the World Cup winner, which is worth a total of €70 million.

Barça initially put €50 million on the table, which was rejected by the Premier League giants.

Reports from England indicated that Manchester City was unwilling to let Rodri leave for less than around £70 million (€80 million). As a result, the initial proposal was quickly dismissed.

However, it was also made clear from the outset that talks would continue over the weekend to put together a second offer capable of meeting City’s demands.

And that is exactly what has happened. Neither side wants to prolong an operation in which there is broad agreement over the player’s desire to move.

Barça would currently be prepared to pay €65 million, plus a further €5 million in add-ons.

That is a significant increase from the initial offer, although it still falls somewhat short of City’s reported asking price.

The expectation now is that Manchester City will also make a concession and soften their financial demands.

Hoping to close the deal soon

Barcelona’s intention is to finalize the transfer between today and tomorrow. There is very little room left for further negotiation, and this second offer could be the decisive one, perhaps with only minor last-minute adjustments.

Rodri, for his part, has already agreed a four-year contract with the La Liga champions and is hoping to complete the move at the earliest, so as to avoid travelling to Manchester for pre-season.

It will be interesting to see if the latest offer from the Blaugrana is convincing enough for the Premier League giants.
