La Liga giants Barcelona have added a new name to their shortlist of defensive targets for the summer of 2026.

This comes amid confirmation of the Blaugrana keeping a close eye on the situation of Aston Villa star Pau Torres.

As per a report from ESPN:

‘Barcelona are following Aston Villa defender Pau Torres after making the signing of a left-sided centre-back a priority for next summer, various sources have told ESPN.’

It is of course widespread knowledge at this point that Barcelona are on the lookout for reinforcements at the heart of defence for next season.

With Ronald Araújo struggling both on and off the pitch and Eric García frequently used in midfield, the absence of summer departure Iñigo Martínez has been more sorely felt than predicted.

Torres was previously in the sights of the Camp Nou brass prior to making the move to England, during his time on the books of Villarreal.

And though Aston Villa will not make a deal an easy one to come by, the 28-year-old’s openness to a return to La Liga could aid Barca’s pursuit.
