Aston Villa will be without Matty Cash for the Europa League last-16 first leg at Lille on Thursday at 18:45, while captain John McGinn will return.

According to L'Équipe, Unai Emery confirmed at his press conference in Villeneuve-d'Ascq on Wednesday that the 28-year-old Poland international right-back has a calf injury.

Cash scored the goal that forced extra time when Villa eliminated Paulo Fonseca's LOSC in April 2024, winning 4-3 on penalties after 2-1 and 1-2 across the two legs.

Emery also confirmed McGinn's availability, though he does not yet know if the 31-year-old will be able to start.

The Scotland international has been out since mid-January with a knee injury.
