Barcelona announce Anthony Gordon signing, presentation today | OneFootball

Barcelona have announced the signing of Anthony Gordon on a five-year deal. The move will be formalised at 13:00 on Friday, with his media presentation scheduled for 13:30.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the 25-year-old arrived by private flight on Thursday, then completed tests at Hospital de Barcelona under Dr Ricard Pruna. Agents Will Salthouse and Adam Dugdale headed to the club offices to finalise a swift agreement.

Barcelona and Newcastle United agreed a €70 million fee plus about €10 million in add-ons, though the statement did not disclose figures. Deco and Bojan Krkic sealed the deal after a rapid trip to London earlier in the week.

Deco wants key reinforcements settled before the World Cup. Despite Gordon’s ability to play left wing and centre-forward, the club are also pushing for Julián Álvarez. That deal is not expected to be as swift, with Atlético de Madrid saying he is not for sale.

Bernardo Silva, represented by Jorge Mendes, is also in play and a free agent after leaving Manchester City. It looks an unnecessary luxury, and Hansi Flick will have the final word.

Fitting these plans under the salary cap remains a headache for Laporta. Barcelona say Gordon’s wages pose no issue, and the budget is imagined to allow for Álvarez too. Space could come from Robert Lewandowski’s salary falling away, extended amortisation on Frenkie de Jong, a possible Ansu Fati sale to Monaco, more income from third-tier and VIP expansion, and perhaps a significant outgoing.
