Barcelona are ‘angry’ with Frenkie de Jong | OneFootball

Those in a position of power at La Liga champions Barcelona are becoming increasingly frustrated with the situation of midfield star Frenkie de Jong. This comes as the Dutchman continues to put off the possibility of undergoing surgery.

Midfielder De Jong was of course condemned to a fresh spell on the sidelines last month. After returning to base in Catalunya’s capital following the World Cup, the former Ajax man was revealed to have suffered a significant knee injury.

Barcelona’s medical staff were quick to recommend surgical intervention, convinced that this would reduce De Jong’s absence as much as possible. The 28-year-old, however, opted against as much, instead making use of conservative treatment with a team of doctors and physios.

And this approach has since not produced even close to the desired outcome… As per a report from Diario Sport:

‘At Barça they consider that a point has been reached in which the conservative recovery is not offering the expected results.’

This situation has culminated in widespread ‘anger’ and ‘unease’ behind the scenes at the Ciutat Esportiva, as De Jong, to this day, continues to reject the Blaugrana’s recommendation to go under the knife.
