Joao Felix is finally reaching the end of his patience and is eager for a clear decision about his future by the end of July.

According to a report from SPORT, Felix, currently vacationing in the United States, has instructed his agent, Jorge Mendes, to sort out his future before he returns to Atletico Madrid for pre-season training.

It is certain that Felix is not keen on returning to Atletico due to his strained relationship with the team’s coach, Diego Simeone and for now, Barcelona have not taken any definitive steps toward acquiring him as well.

This is because they are waiting to determine their salary cap before making any moves. However, it is clear that if Barcelona decide to pursue Felix, it will only be through a loan deal with a reduced salary.

Felix is exploring other opportunities

Amidst this drama, it is said that Felix and his agent are exploring other options, should the Barcelona deal not materialise.

One of the most interested parties is Benfica, Felix’s former club. They are keen on bringing him back and have proposed a deal to acquire 50% of his rights for a maximum payment of €30 million.

According to reports, the club’s board has set a ceiling of €40 million for the entire operation, including both the transfer fee and Felix’s salary, and they are unwilling to exceed this amount.

Additionally, Aston Villa have expressed interest in taking Felix on a loan, and there are other English clubs considering similar moves. Despite having several options, though, Felix remains hopeful about joining Barcelona.

Complications in signing Felix

It must be noted that Barcelona’s potential signing of Nico Williams complicates the situation further. To accommodate Felix, they would need to free up space by offloading two attacking players.

One of these players could be Vitor Roque, who has offers to leave, while the other might be Ansu Fati, whose future will be evaluated during the pre-season by coach Hansi Flick.

Felix’s desire for clarity stems from his wish to avoid the uncertainties of the transfer window dragging into the new season.

The 24-year-old forward wants a stable environment where he can focus on his performance and contributions on the field without the distraction of unresolved transfer issues.

Joao Felix’s urgency is also fueled by his uncomfortable situation at Atletico Madrid, where his relationship with Simeone has deteriorated, making it difficult for him to envision a productive future with the club.
