After having signed Anthony Gordon early in the summer, FC Barcelona have officially completed the signing of another player, i.e., the Egyptian forward Hamza Abdelkarim, whose purchase option they exercised by paying Al-Hilal €1.5 million plus add-ons.

For now, it remains to be seen which player they would be singing next, as they are still in the market to reinforce their team. Meanwhile, the Catalans also continue to work on some departures from their team.

In this regard, they have also successfully completed an operation, as Mundo Deportivo reports that they have officially announced the departure of the goalkeeper Inaki Pena to the Greek side Panathinaikos.

The Blaugrana club would get €3 million from this transfer, while the player would receive an annual salary of €1 million under the contract that he has signed till 2029.

While announcing this departure, Barcelona also took to their social media to express their gratitude for the goalie’s services over the years and to bid him farewell as he embarks on a new chapter in his career. He joined the Blaugrana club in 2012, and thus spent 14 years at the club, though he also spent two years away on loan, once to Galatasaray and once to Elche, last season.

On the other hand, Panathinaikos also published a video on their social media to welcome their new signing. Now, the Spaniard would be looking to join preseason training with his new club, especially as he would be looking to finally become an undisputed starter at his club.

At Barcelona, Inaki Pena had to live in the shadows of Marc-Andre ter Stegen for most part of his career, and with Joan Garcia’s arrival, the chances of him becoming a starter in goal further evaporated. Hopefully, this new chapter in his career would help him reach the potential he always had.
