La Liga giants Barcelona have this weekend been afforded some altogether positive news on the transfer front.

This comes amid confirmation that a club previously considered one of the leading contenders for the signature of Joan García have dropped out of the race for his signature.

The outfit in question? Bayer Leverkusen.

German heavyweights Leverkusen had previously been credited with a keen interest in the services of Espanyol no.1 Joan, amid a search for reinforcements between the posts.

The brass at the BayArena, however, have this weekend tied up a deal for Brentford star Mark Flekken.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, citing Sky Sport:

‘Bayer Leverkusen and Brentford have reached an agreement for the transfer of 31-year-old Mark Flekken. His fee, according to various reports, is 10 million euros.’

This means that Barcelona, already considered the frontrunners to secure his signature this summer, have one less competitor to worry about in the Joan García sweepstakes.
