Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick on Saturday sent a fresh defiant message the way of Spanish national team counterpart Luis de la Fuente.
This of course comes amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the situation of Lamine Yamal.
Wide-man Lamine was for his part yesterday called up by Spain for the October international break.
Mere hours later, however, the 18-year-old withdrew from La Roja duty, after Barcelona announced an injury setback for their attacking prodigy.
This proved to be just the latest chapter in what is becoming quite a saga between the Blaugrana and the RFEF.
Lamine was initially injured whilst lining out for his country last month, with Hansi Flick and co. having been left less than impressed with what was deemed to be careless treatment of the young winger.
This culminated in something of a war of words between Barca’s headmaster, and Spain boss Luis de la Fuente.
Speaking in his latest pre-match press conference on Saturday, the former was in turn asked for his take on De la Fuente admitting to being ‘surprised’ by Flick’s criticism.
And the German went on to explain:
“De La Fuente said he is surprised by my words? I’m not regretful about what I said. I wanted to protect my players and think about that situation. For me that was the right action. But now it’s over.”
