Barcelona celebrate historic World Cup triumph after eight players star for Spain | OneFootball

Up to eight players from their current first team were on the winning side as Luis de la Fuente’s team beat Lionel Messi and his Argentina side 1-0 in extra time.

Of these eight players, six played on the pitch for Spain, including Pau Cubarsi, Eric Garcia, Pedri, Dani Olmo, Lamine Yamal, and Ferran Torres. Ferran was the most decisive of all the players on the pitch, as he scored the only goal of the match in extra time and also got the MVP award for this game.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, FC Barcelona also celebrated its players’ success in the biggest international tournament. The club took to its social media accounts to post a picture of all of these eight players, with Gavi holding the World Cup trophy, accompanied by the caption: “Our Barça players, world champions.”

Gavi did not get to play any minutes in the final game last night, but was involved in a brawl with some Argentine players, along with Eric Garcia, after the full time whistle. Joan Garcia was the only Barcelona player who did not play a single minute for Spain in this tournament.

This was the second World Cup triumph in Spain’s history, and the involvement of the Blaugrana players made it quite reminiscent of their first World Cup trophy, which they won in 2010. Like in this edition, the core of the Spanish team in 2010 was also made up of Barcelona players, and like last night against Argentina, it was another Blaugrana player, Andres Iniesta, who scored the only goal of the game against the Netherlands in the final in extra time.
