Barcelona president Joan Laporta has provided an update on the club’s long-term pursuit of Atlético Madrid star Julián Alvarez. This comes by way of confirmation that the Blaugrana have not yet thrown in the towel on their efforts to land the Argentine.
The Camp Nou brass have of course been left thoroughly frustrated in their pursuit of frontman Alvarez across the summer to date.
After identifying the World Cup winner as their first-choice replacement for the outbound Robert Lewandowski, Deco and co. have since been unable to thrash out an agreement with their Atlético Madrid counterparts on the terms of a deal.
The speculation linking the parties with a joining of forces, though, has continued to persist…
Speaking during an appearance in front of the media on Wednesday, Alvarez’s name was therefore inevitably put to Barcelona president Joan Laporta.
And the Spanish patron made use of the opportunity to reiterate:
“We got the information that Atlético Madrid wants to sell the player. It’s clear that our offer remains valid until the end of the market.”
