It is no secret that Hansi Flick is deeply involved in Barcelona’s day-to-day affairs, even when it comes to monitoring the club’s youth players.

A shrewd operator, Flick often likes to monitor key matches for Barcelona’s reserve team, as he considers La Masia to be a great source of talent for the first team.

Flick’s commitment to FC Barcelona’s youth development knows no rest days either.

Flick visits key Barça Atletic match

Just hours after securing a crucial 2-0 derby victory against Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium, the German tactician spent his Sunday afternoon at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.

Taking advantage of the first team’s day off, Flick attended the Barça Atletic match against Ibiza, corresponding to the 17th round of Group 3 of the Second RFEF, reports Mundo Deportivo.

The visit comes at a critical juncture, right before the squad is scheduled to travel to Saudi Arabia on Monday to compete in the Spanish Super Cup.

A High-Profile Scouting Mission

Flick did not watch the game alone. He was accompanied by his trusted assistants, Marcus Sorg and Toni Tapalovic.

Also present in the stands were Bojan Krkic, the football coordinator and Deco’s right-hand man, and Joan Soler, the director responsible for youth development.

The match provided a perfect opportunity to monitor several talents who are hovering on the fringes of the first team.

Juliano Belletti’s starting eleven featured players well-known to Flick, including Jofre Torrents and Pedro ‘Dro’ Fernández, who were both on the bench for the senior side against Espanyol just the day before.

Additionally, the staff got a closer look at Andres Cuenca, Dani Rodriguez, and Toni Fernandez – all of whom have already made their debuts under Flick – as well as goalkeeper Diego Kochen, a regular fixture in first-team squads.
