Barcelona have confirmed that Lamine Yamal will be sidelined for the next two to three weeks due to injury.
The forward recently returned to action against Real Sociedad and Paris Saint-Germain, but he has not shaken off a recurring problem.
Barcelona announced that the teenager will miss Sunday’s clash with Sevilla. He has also been withdrawn from Spain’s squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The news is a blow for manager Hansi Flick, who has been relying heavily on the youngster this season. Barcelona face a tough run of fixtures, and Yamal’s absence will be felt.
He will not feature for Spain in their qualifiers against Georgia and Bulgaria. Spain manager Luis de la Fuente named him in his squad earlier this week.
Barcelona are hopeful he will return in time for the game against Real Madrid on October 26.
Supporters will be eager to see him return to fitness, as he has already shown remarkable form in 2025.
The 18-year-old recently finished second in the Ballon d’Or voting, with Ousmane Dembele claiming the award.
Yamal won the prestigious Kopa Trophy for the best player under the age of 21 for the second successive year.
