Owing to the financial problems they have been facing for the last few years, FC Barcelona still have to generate funds to be able to make new signings in the market, even after their return to the 1:1 rule at the start of this year.
In this regard, there was a significant inflow to their coffers on the last day of the winter transfer window, as Manchester City paid €60 million for their former midfielder Nico Gonzalez, of which the Blaugranes got around €13 million.
While this was the only income they obtained from their former players in this winter window, SPORT notes that there are several other such operations that can materialize in the next summer transfer window, which can get another significant amount of money for Barcelona.
One such operation that is confirmed to take place is Jean Claire Todibo’s transfer to West Ham United, for which the Catalans will get 20%, i.e., €8 million.
Similarly, Oscar Mingueza was also quite close to leaving Celta Vigo to join Aston Villa in the recently closed winter window, with the Villans willing to pay his entire €20 million release clause. The Blaugranes have 50% right on the player, and with the good season he is having, he is likely to leave in the upcoming summer.
Another former Barcelona player who changed clubs in the last transfer window was Estanis Pedrola, who is now playing on loan at Bologna after leaving Sampdoria. The Genoese club can purchase him permanently for €4 million at the end of the season, of which 50% will come to the Catalans.
Similarly, Mika Marmol was also close to leaving Las Palmas to join AS Roma in the winter, as the Italians considered paying €10 million for him. Barcelona also have 50% right on him.
There is a similar case with Ilaix Moriba, on whom the Blaugranes also have a 10% right, and who is once again shining on loan at Celta Vigo. Thus, Barcelona can get up to €20 million in total from these sales of former players in the upcoming summer transfer window.
