La Liga champions Barcelona’s deal for Manchester City star Rodri could yet include a player exchange, to reduce costs for the former. That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have provided a fresh insight into the developing situation.
Midfielder Rodri is of course now widely expected to take his talents to Catalunya’s capital before the summer is out.
After the 30-year-old made clear his preference to link up with Hansi Flick’s Barcelona rather than arch rivals Real Madrid, the Camp Nou brass wasted little time in securing an agreement on contract terms with the player himself.
Negotiations, in turn, have since also been kicked into gear with the board at The Etihad. The Blaugrana saw an initial offer firmly rebuffed by Man City, who made clear that their demands are considerably more substantial.
After Deco and co. returned to the table, though, the parties are understood to have moved significantly closer to an accord.
And as alluded to above, over the last 24 hours, Mundo Deportivo have provided an insight into just how the final transfer agreement could be broken down:
‘Talks are in their final stages. The deal involves a fixed fee of around €55 million plus add-ons, which could be offset by a player from the Barcelona squad.’
The identity of the Blaugrana star in question as of this moment remains unclear.
