FC Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen suffered a partial tear of the ACL in his left knee last week. He is expected to be sidelined for at least four months, meaning he will miss almost the remainder of the season.
The injury comes at an unfortunate moment for the 29-year-old Dane, given that his contract with the club stands to expire in a little over six months.
Now, according to Xavi Campos on Esport3, after it became known that his injury was serious, Christensen was left deeply affected and in a very low emotional state.
Doctor Ricard Pruna remained in Barcelona and did not travel with the team to Villarreal in order to accompany the Danish international during the medical tests and the confirmation of the diagnosis.
Upon learning that the problem was a major one, the 29-year-old former Chelsea star was left severely affected emotionally.

The reaction is understandable considering the nature of his injury, as well as the fact that he has been unable to play regularly this term, while his future hangs in the balance.
And, as reported previously and now reaffirmed by the aforementioned outlet, Barcelona president Joan Laporta is seriously considering offering Christensen a one-year contract.
Once the extent of the injury was confirmed and the information reached Villarreal, where the team and the board of directors were based, Laporta expressed that he would like to make a gesture towards Christensen and offer him an extension.
The Barcelona president wishes to ensure that he would not be left without a contract immediately after recovering from a serious injury.
As such, the idea is to offer a short-term contract, for one season, covering the 2026-27 campaign, on a significantly lower salary than the one Christensen has had over the past four years at Barcelona.
