Replacing Robert Lewandowski is becoming one of the biggest missions facing Barcelona, and the club’s discussions appear to be revealing just how complicated that decision could become.

According to reports from SPORT, there is currently no full agreement within Barcelona’s sporting structure regarding the possible signing of Victor Osimhen, despite the striker continuing to establish himself as one of the most dangerous forwards in world football.

As per the outlet, the Nigerian striker remains highly admired because of his goalscoring ability, physical power and aggressive attacking style.

One option if others fail

Despite his obvious capabilities, concerns exist within the club over whether his overall profile truly fits the long-term project Barcelona want to build after Lewandowski’s departure.

At the moment, the report claims Barcelona still prioritise other attacking targets ahead of Osimhen, particularly Julian Alvarez and Joao Pedro.

That means Osimhen may only become a serious option later in the transfer window if Barcelona fail to secure their preferred choices first.

There are doubts

There is no questioning Osimhen’s impact in front of goal, with the Galatasaray striker finishing the season with 22 goals and eight assists.

His profile is exactly what many teams search for in a modern striker, but concerns remain regarding how the forward would adapt within the dressing room environment and whether his personality could create complications internally over time.

Furthermore, financially, the operation also appears extremely difficult, as Galatasaray invested around €75 million to sign Osimhen, which means Barcelona would likely need to prepare an even bigger proposal if they want to bring him.

Barcelona know the striker chosen to eventually replace Lewandowski must not only deliver immediately but also become the face of the attack for many years to come.

That is why the club is analysing every possible detail before making a final move.

They need a player young enough to build around long-term, experienced enough to deliver instantly and mentally strong enough to handle the pressure that comes with being Barcelona’s main attacking figure.
