Since his arrival in 2022, Robert Lewandowski has been a dedicated servant for FC Barcelona. Beyond just the fact that he has scored more than a century of goals, the Polish striker has been a great role model as well. In many ways, he has proven to be a top signing.

On the other hand, it is also true that the striker is now 36 years old and he is understandably no longer in his prime. Furthermore, his contract expires next year in 2026 and there is a lot of speculation over his future.

However, a recent update from SPORT suggests that Barça has not yet ruled out the possibility of renewing Lewandowski’s contract beyond its expiry in 2026. Still, the report clarifies that this depends on his performances in the upcoming season.

If the Barça ace can manage to deliver a season with similar numbers to his previous one, a renewal would seem like a likely possibility. Unfortunately, the start to the upcoming season could not have been more unfair for the veteran.

Now sidelined with a hamstring issue, the 36-year-old Polish forward is expected to miss around three weeks of La Liga action. Ideally, he would have wanted to be there for Hansi Flick’s side and potentially help the team find the back of the net as much as possible.
