Barcelona dominance exposed by numbers Real Madrid just cannot match

There is a tendency to simplify title races when the gap at the top grows this large.

With Barcelona sitting 11 points clear of Real Madrid, many have been quick to frame this as a failure from Madrid rather than a success story in Catalonia.

But that reading does not hold up under scrutiny.

This Barcelona side, led by Hansi Flick, has not stumbled into this position – they have built it with authority, consistency, and a level of control rarely seen across an entire league campaign.

Total supremacy

From an attacking perspective, the numbers alone are enough to settle any debate, as Barcelona have scored 87 goals so far, comfortably outpacing every other team in the division.

The gap to second place, currently held by Real Madrid, stands at 19 goals, a difference that reflects sustained attacking pressure across the season.

What makes this even more impressive is that the team has managed to combine that attacking output with defensive reliability, despite criticism of their high-risk structure.

While their style has often been questioned for leaving space in behind, the reality is that no team in La Liga has conceded fewer goals.

Barcelona have let in just 30, which is marginally better than Real Madrid and comfortably ahead of the chasing pack.

More to the story

That balance between attack and defence has also elevated Joan Garcia into the spotlight.

The goalkeeper is on the verge of claiming the Zamora Trophy, having conceded only 19 goals in 27 appearances while keeping 14 clean sheets.

Beyond individual performances, Barcelona’s dominance is even more evident when looking at their consistency across different environments.

At home, they have been flawless, winning all 16 matches played so far, including matches at the Johan Cruyff Stadium, Montjuïc, and Spotify Camp Nou.

Right now, two major fixtures still remain on home soil against Real Madrid and Real Betis.

Should Barcelona maintain their perfect record, they would achieve something unprecedented in a 20-team La Liga season.

Even away from home, Barcelona have collected 34 points, again outperforming Real Madrid.

Now, with 85 points already secured, the conversation is beginning to shift towards history.

Winning their remaining five matches would take them to 100 points – a milestone only previously reached by Tito Vilanova’s Barcelona and Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid.
