Although results on the pitch have largely remained stable, FC Barcelona as an institution is currently navigating a period of uncertainty with the presidential election process now officially underway.

While Joan Laporta is still the favorite to return as the president, there are several other candidates also vying for the office, and one of the most prominent of these is Victor Font.

Font spoke to the media outside La Nit de la Radio, organized by Cadena Ser recently, and as Mundo Deportivo has reported, made some comments about the elections. One such comment that stood out related to Hansi Flick:

“In the coming days, we will explain our sporting project. Flick is asking for stability, and if he already likes what he has now, with what we will present to him, he will be blown away.”

The presidential hopeful reiterated his belief that continuity for the German coach is essential and argued that stability must be built through proper planning rather than short-term fixes. In that context, Font openly criticised the sporting decisions made under the current administration.

“Stability means not improvising. Not having to give away Iñigo Martínez to excessively reduce the wage bill and, just a few months later, sign Cancelo.”

Font also raised his voice to highlight the unfair means being used by Laporta’s party in the elections:

“Laporta is using the club’s structures to campaign, as we have seen in recent days. It is yet another example of a lack of transparency.”

Font and his platform Nosaltres, have therefore called for clear safeguards throughout the electoral process:

“Absolute impartiality of the club’s official media (Barça One, social media, and television); institutional neutrality to prevent propaganda using resources that belong to all members; and full transparency throughout the entire electoral process to ensure that all candidates compete on equal terms.”

Victor Font has raised some notable issues in these statements, but it remains to be seen what way forward he himself offers before assessing whether he would be a better candidate to lead Barcelona.
