The FC Barcelona sporting offices are expected to spend quite a busy summer as the Catalan club is once again looking to significantly strengthen its team ahead of the 2026-27 season, during which winning the UEFA Champions League would be their primary objective.
Meanwhile, to make space for these new arrivals, the Blaugranes would also have to address the departures of several players who are not going to be a part of Hansi Flick’s plans for the next season.
As SPORT has noted, almost all of Barcelona’s exit operations have stalled lately, with only Ansu Fati’s permanent move to AS Monaco seeming to be close to completion. Other operations, for the departures of players like Marc Casado, Roony Bardghji, and Marc-Andre ter Stegen, have hit roadblocks, while Alejandro Balde and Jules Kounde also seem unlikely to move this summer.
Having been linked with several sides, including the likes of Monaco, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Real Betis, Manchester United, and clubs from Saudi Arabia, Casado has reportedly already agreed to leave Barcelona. However, he has not yet made a decision regarding his next club, and would take his time to make this decision as he wants to continue growing as a player.
Like Casado, Bardghji also understands that he would have to leave the Blaugrana club to continue growing as a player, especially after missing out on the World Cup. He has quite a lot of demand in England, with the likes of Aston Villa, Leeds United, and Everton interested in him, but none of these operations are at an advanced stage.
Meanwhile, Barcelona would also have another familiar problem at their hands, as they would once again have to find a new club for Marc-Andre ter Stegen. His high wages continue to remain a barrier, as interest from Ajax has also cooled off lately, while he is not willing to leave for Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, the Catalans are open to any possibility, including a termination of his contract.
