In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Barcelona are eyeing a move for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez. It has been stated that the Catalan club have identified the Argentine forward as a target for next year.
Alvarez has enjoyed a decent run of form at the Madrid club as he has put in a string of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 25-year-old has registered seven goals and grabbed three assists in eight appearances for Atletico Madrid this season across all competitions.
The Argentine talent deserves a ton of credit for averaging 2.65 shots per 90 minutes in La Liga. He kept 56.3% of his attempts on target. Alvarez was even tidy when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after completing 77% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the Madrid club will run out in the summer of 2030. Thus, Barcelona would have to make a massive offer if they are serious about recruiting Alvarez next year.

Alvarez is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.
The Argentine talent can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top. He has already proven his worth in La Liga and won’t take much time to settle into life at the Catalan club.
We can expect Alvarez to add more firepower to Barcelona boss Hansi Flick’s attack. He is good enough to serve as an ideal replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who has entered the final stage of his Barca career.
At 25, Alvarez has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a dream option for the Catalan giants to pursue this January or at the end of this campaign. He might even help Barca compete for some major trophies over the next few years. Thus, Flick should focus on signing him soon.
