Selling players will make it easier for Barcelona to generate the income they will lose from temporarily vacating the Spotify Camp Nou, and there are already multiple candidates that have been identified as possible options to be sold. Frenkie de Jong and Alejandro Balde are the most obvious, although Fermin Lopez could enter that equation next summer.

Fermin, who’s desperate to help Barcelona win the Champions League this season, is attracting interest from Chelsea and Arsenal, and according to El Nacional, both Premier League clubs are willing to pay €100m to snatch him away from Catalonia.

Fermin not thinking about Barcelona exit, wants improved deal

The good news for Barcelona is that Fermin has no desire to leave Barcelona, the club of his life. However, he’s reportedly made it clear that he wants an improved contract with new terms, despite the fact that he only penned a new deal in January.

Fermin continues to rise and rise as a Barcelona player. He’s now one of the best attacking midfielders in world football, having already amassed four goals and two assists in his opening six appearances of the 2026-27 season – and he will hope to continue that form this weekend when Hansi Flick’s side go to Sevilla for their final match before the first international break of the campaign.

It will be interesting to see whether there is any movements towards a new contract for Fermin, who is already tied down to 2031. In recent weeks, sporting director Deco has been working on renewals for Raphinha and Gerard Martin, so there are chances for talks to be held with Fermin’s representatives soon.
