There is no doubt that FC Barcelona have significantly strengthened their team with the arrival of new players like Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi, Joao Cancelo, and Rodri Hernandez. However, there is still a clear area of weakness in the team, i.e., the absence of a natural goalscorer, as Robert Lewandowski, Marcus Rashford, and Ferran Torres have all left the team.
The Blaugranes are aware of this shortcoming in their team, and Deco has long been trying to sign the Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez. However, no significant progress has been made on this front, as, despite the player’s keenness to sign, the Colchoneros are not willing to negotiate his transfer, at least with a direct rival like Barcelona.
With only a few days left in the transfer market, time is of the essence for Deco to get a new center-forward for Flick, and thus, he is also working on some alternatives. The most notable of these has been the Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez.
Recent reports suggest that the Argentine might be willing to sign for Barcelona if the opportunity arises, and Deco has already talked with his entourage. However, according to MARCA, Inter Milan do not want to part with such an important player, and have declared him non-transferable.
Thus, getting the Argentine star will not be easy for the Blaugranes, but it remains to be seen whether the Nerazzurri will change their minds if negotiations take place with them.
Meanwhile, Barcelona continue to wait for Julian Alvarez to make a move that can make his transfer to the Camp Nou still possible. Furthermore, they are also keeping an eye on some other targets as well, including the Villarreal duo of Ayoze Perez and Georges Mikautadze. With only ten days left in the market, it remains to be seen which of these players Deco will sign.
