Barcelona midfield star Gavi has once again shown his passion for the game by speaking about his personal ambitions despite currently being sidelined.

The 21-year-old, who underwent arthroscopic knee surgery last week, revealed that his ultimate dream is to win the UEFA Champions League with Barcelona and the FIFA World Cup with Spain.

It is to be noted that the Spanish international suffered a serious knee injury in 2023 that has halted his progress at a crucial stage of his career.

Regarding the recent injury, while initial estimates suggested he might only be out for around five weeks, the club later confirmed that his recovery will actually take between four to five months.

This has come as a massive blow for both the player and Barcelona, as he will not return to the pitch in 2025. Fans will now have to wait until next year to see him back in action.

For Gavi, the timing of the setback could not have been more frustrating. After nearly two years of dealing with long-term injury problems, this season seemed like the right moment to get back to his best form.

Hansi Flick had trusted him to once again become the intense and creative player who had made such an impact in his early years with the first team.

Gavi focused on the future

Speaking during a recent appearance on Futbol Emotion (h/t Mauricio Priale), Gavi opened up about his special memories and ambitions.

“The most special jersey I’ve kept? The one from my debut with Barça. Favourite stadium? Spotify Camp Nou.

“A dream I still have to fulfil as a footballer? Winning the Champions League with Barcelona and the World Cup,” he shared.

While the injury has delayed Gavi’s progress, his mindset remains clear that he wants to achieve greatness with both club and country.

For Barcelona fans, the hope is that once Gavi completes his recovery, he will return even stronger and help lead the team to success in Europe and beyond.
