Barcelona first-team star fails to attract any offers even as Flick sends clear message | OneFootball

Barcelona are expected to remain busy throughout the transfer deadline day, with the club currently involved in multiple potential deals.

The Catalans are notably eyeing a late swoop for defensive prodigy Ruud Nijstad from FC Twente, even though negotiations will be difficult.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are trying to get rid of two first-team stars in Alejandro Balde and Marc Casado. And while the latter has already attracted a lot of clubs, the same cannot be said for Balde.

Balde fails to attract offers

According to Mundo Deportivo, Balde has yet to attract any official bids on the table for Barcelona to consider as we approach the end of the window.

The time is ticking and the club have less than 12 hours to resolve the future of the young left-back, who has found himself falling down in the pecking order.

Indeed, Balde is no longer a part of Barcelona’s plans and he is currently the only first-team player without a single minute of action so far, with both Xavi Espart and Joao Cancelo ahead of him.

It is evident that Hansi Flick is freezing Balde out of the first team, and the only solution is for the player to settle somewhere else.

However, the market has already matured significantly and the scope for a top European team to make a late splurge on a struggling full-back remains low.

What are Balde’s options?

Manchester United were credited with interest in the Spanish international earlier in the month, but the Premier League giants consider Barcelona’s valuation as too expensive.

Inter Milan were also touted as a potential suitor for Barcelona, who were reportedly in a swap deal talks involving Federico Dimarco. But that possibility, too, has been ruled out.

That leaves Balde with a strong possibility of remaining at Barcelona this season, although whether or not he plays for the team remains to be seen.

Hansi Flick’s current options in Xavi Espart and Joao Cancelo have both appeared reliable, with the latter simply appearing as a backup for Espart, who has made a stunning start to the new season.
