Barcelona handed fresh injury concern before Girona clash | OneFootball

La Liga giants Barcelona have this weekend been left to sweat over the wellbeing of a headline member of the club’s squad.

The player in question? Dani Olmo.

Midfielder Olmo, for his part, was back in action on the international front on Thursday.

En route to Spain’s 0-0 Nations League stalemate with Serbia, the 26-year-old featured from the off in the attacking midfield spot.

During the 2nd-half in Belgrade, though, Olmo went to ground following a blow, before being hauled off inside the closing 10 minutes.

And, as confirmed by Spanish national team boss Luis de la Fuente, the former RB Leipzig star, two days on, is still suffering the effects of as much.

Speaking in a press conference on Saturday, De la Fuente announced that Olmo is considered a doubt to feature against Switzerland on Sunday night:

“Dani Olmo received a strong knock against Serbia. It is not certain that he will play tomorrow against Switzerland. He will not train today.”

It remains to be seen whether or not the issue proves enough to throw the summer Barcelona signing’s status for the club’s La Liga meeting with Girona next weekend into doubt.
