The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona have earmarked the ideal replacement, in the case of defender Gerard Martín moving on this summer.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Alejandro Grimaldo as the player in question.
The name of stopper Martín has of course taken its place centre stage in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital across the day to date.
This comes after word was forthcoming in the media that the 23-year-old has made his way onto the summer wishlist of Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers.
And Barcelona, it would appear, are not entirely opposed to a sale.
This comes amid confirmation that Deco and co. have already got a potential replacement in mind…
As per Sport:
‘Both Deco and Hansi Flick are clear that, if a full-back arrives, he must have the level to compete for the starting spot. And on the horizon there is the possibility of Alejandro Grimaldo.’
It is added that Bayer Leverkusen star Grimaldo’s profile – Barca past, Spanish international, elite attacking production – fits what the Blaugrana are searching for.
Any potential transfer, though, will be dependent on price.
