After missing the Gamper Trophy match and the La Liga season opener against Mallorca, Barcelona superstar returned to the squad this past weekend for the trip to Levante.
The striker, who turned 37 years old last week, got some minutes in the latter stages of the match at the Ciutat de Valencia.
During his brief absence, however, Ferran Torres has established himself as Barcelona’s starting role, scoring two goals in two games.
As such, SPORT reports that Lewandowski is wasting no time in pushing for a return to Barcelona’s starting lineup.

His determination was underlined on Monday when he turned up to train at the Ciutat Esportiva despite the squad being given the day off.
Lewandowski ended Barcelona’s Asia tour with two goals – against FC Seoul and Daegu FC. However, just days before the Joan Gamper Trophy, he sustained a hamstring issue in his left leg, sidelining him temporarily.
Now back in contention, Lewandowski is eager to rebuild rhythm and reclaim a starting place. His decision to train on a rest day reflects his commitment, as he is working hard to reclaim his starting spot from Ferran Torres.
With Lewandowski pushing hard and Ferran in form, Hansi Flick now faces a decision whether to back experience or momentum in Vallecas. Either way, it bodes well for Barcelona that their two strikers are looking sharp and hungry for more.
