Barcelona’s attacking quality has rightly earned praise this season, backed by eye-catching numbers and dominant scorelines.
However, what has gone slightly under the radar is just how impressive the team’s defensive and goalkeeping performances have been in recent weeks.
The clearest example came in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final, where Barcelona demolished Athletic Club 5-0.
That victory marked Barcelona’s fifth consecutive clean sheet, a run that already carries historical significance for the club.
To put things into perspective, the last time Barcelona conceded a goal was back in early December during their Champions League clash against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Since then, the Blaugrana have gone on an impressive unbeaten run across multiple competitions.
In that period, Barcelona recorded wins against Osasuna (2-0), CD Guadalajara (0-2), Villarreal (0-2), Espanyol (0-2), and Athletic Club (5-0).

Notably, Joan Garcia has been trusted in four of these five matches, while Marc-Andre ter Stegen stepped in for the Copa del Rey knockout match.
Historically, this level of defensive consistency has not been common for Barça in recent years.
The club had not managed such a run of clean sheets since 2020.
Even more striking is the fact that Barcelona have now gone an entire month unbeaten without conceding, something that last happened back in 2014 under Luis Enrique. D
uring that spell, Barça did not allow a single goal between August 24th and September 30th.
Next, the benchmark to beat is an eight-game clean-sheet streak achieved across two seasons at the end of 2015-16 and the start of 2016-17.
Back then, Barcelona dominated opponents like Deportivo de la Coruna, Sporting Gijon, Betis, Espanyol, Granada, and Sevilla, with Claudio Bravo and Ter Stegen sharing duties in goal.
