It has been a difficult start to the week for Barcelona, who have recently confirmed the injury of Fermin Lopez, with the Spaniard likely to be ruled out for three weeks.
Before that, Barcelona also confirmed that young midfielder Gavi will undergo arthroscopy tomorrow, after being out of action since late August.
While Gavi has made some form of recovery, it has not been enough to truly get rid of the problem. As such, the player is set to undergo surgery.
According to Fernando Polo, Gavi’s surgery could once again rule him out on the sidelines, at least in the short term.

The journalist does clarify that Gavi won’t be out for the long term, as arthroscopy is usually a less invasive strategy. But he could still be out for at least five weeks.
This could prove to be a huge blow for the Catalans, as it will put pressure on existing stars to perform consistently and avoid injuries, with Hansi Flick no longer having the luxury to rotate freely.
With Gavi and Fermin out for the next few weeks, the onus will be on the likes of Dani Olmo and Marcus Rashford to step up, with even Roony Bardghji looking to impress.
Fortunately for Barcelona, October’s international break could cushion the losses, to an extent, giving both Gavi and Fermin some additional time to get back to full fitness.
Barcelona, though, will be careful with Gavi even after he returns to action, knowing the youngster’s poor injury record over the past couple of years.
