Barcelona identify two transfer targets amid plan for 2027 signings | OneFootball

Barcelona are already making preparations for the transfer window re-opening in January. They intend to move for a new central defender, while plans are also being put in place for next summer, when Hansi Flick’s will need to be reinforced again.

Defence is undoubtedly the big area of concern in Flick’s squad. A new centre-back is wanted as cover due to there only being Pau Cubarsi, Gerard Martin and Andreas Christensen as frontline options, while there is still some concerns about full-back – and it is the latter area that Barcelona want to address next summer.

Sporting director Deco is already scouring the market, and according to Sport, he is looking at a number of players – with the caveat being they are players whose contracts are due to expire at the end of the season. Barcelona have regularly looked to sign free agents since their financial situation got bad, and with their revenue set to drop in 2027 due to being forced to move away from the Spotify Camp Nou, they are ready to utilise it again.

According to the report, there are already two players in this market that Barcelona have been looking at: David Raum and Tyrick Mitchell. The former, who knows Flick well, is out of contract at RB Leipzig, while Mitchell’s deal with Crystal Palace also expires in June 2027.

Both players are left-backs, which is an area that Barcelona will look to strengthen if Alejandro Balde leaves. The La Masia graduate is looking more and more likely to depart after falling out of favour under Flick, and the club are ready to sanction a sale if the player himself requests a move for more playing time elsewhere.

It remains to be seen whether this market is one that Barcelona properly delve into, but for now, they are considering their options.
