Barcelona have entered the race to sign Rodri, with Real Madrid also tracking the Spain midfielder.

The Athletic reports that talks have begun between the 30-year-old, who is under contract at Manchester City until 2027, and the Catalan club.

The Spain international won Euro 2024 then the 2026 World Cup, and has 70 caps and 4 goals. He previously played for Villarreal and Atlético Madrid before joining City in 2019.

In April, the 2024 Ballon d'Or indicated he was open to a move to Real Madrid. The Bernabéu club intend to complete a deal for around 60 million, a figure that would be significant for Barcelona.

Barcelona want midfield reinforcements after Frenkie de Jong sustained a knee ligament injury. Their finances are not unlimited, which could shape any pursuit.
