Barcelona keep Liverpool star on the radar as striker search continues

Barcelona’s main focus remains Julian Alvarez, but the club are also keeping an eye on possible alternatives in case the Atletico Madrid operation becomes impossible.

One of the names back in the conversation is Alexander Isak, a forward Barcelona have admired before and whose profile has long appealed to the sporting department.

The Swedish striker is now at Liverpool after previously attracting strong Barca interest during his time at Newcastle. His first season at Anfield has not been as convincing as expected, which has reopened debate about his market value.

According to Mundo Deportivo, citing the Daily Mail, Barcelona watched Isak live during Sweden’s World Cup matches in the United States.

Isak remains attractive, but complicated

That does not mean Barcelona are moving for him immediately. The club’s priority is still Alvarez, who is seen as the ideal long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski because of his movement, pressing and ability to connect with teammates.

Still, Isak would offer plenty. He is tall, elegant, mobile and technically clean for a centre-forward. Unlike a fixed penalty-box striker, he can drop, combine and attack space.

That kind of forward could work well with Lamine Yamal, Pedri and Dani Olmo, especially in a Barca attack that needs both goals and fluidity.

The financial side is the problem. Even if Isak’s price has dropped after a quiet Liverpool season, he would still not be cheap. Barcelona cannot afford to chase expensive alternatives without a clear plan.

That is why the interest should be read carefully. Watching Isak is smart scouting, not necessarily a sign of an advanced move.

For Barca fans, the key is that the club seem determined to find the right number nine profile rather than simply react to names. Alvarez remains the dream, but Isak is the kind of alternative worth monitoring if the market opens.
