As the summer transfer window continues to progress, Barcelona are seemingly confident about returning to the 1:1 rule that will enable them to normally operate in the market.

As Barça await good news on the financial front, the club continue to scour the market for potential players who can reinforce the team heading into the new season.

Barcelona eyeing move for England international

According to reports in England, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, one player Barcelona are keeping an eye on Marc Guehi.

A centre-back by trade, Guehi has been an undisputed starter for the England team in the ongoing Euro 2024. Under the leadership of Gareth Southgate, Guehi has featured prominently in central defence, alongside John Stones.

Guehi has made a name for himself in the Premier League as well. The Crystal Palace star, in fact, is regarded as one of England’s finest young central defenders.

Guehi’s rapid growth has not gone unnoticed, with Barcelona joining the likes of Real Madrid, Arsenal, Juventus and Tottenham in the list of clubs interested in his services.

Guehi to cost a fortune

However, securing the services of Guehi will be far from easy, as far as Barcelona are concerned.

The report adds that Crystal Palace are looking for a fee of around €60 million for the sale of the 23-year-old England international.

Barcelona are not in a position to afford such an amount even if the club return to the 1:1 rule this summer.

In any case, signing a central defender is not one of Barça’s priority right now. The club have recently decided to keep hold of defensive prodigy Mika Faye this summer while the likes of Eric Garcia and Inigo Martinez are also serving as options for new coach Hansi Flick.

However, should Barça require reinforcements in central defence in the future, Marc Guehi is someone the club could look to.
