Barcelona’s heated Catalan derby against Espanyol was one of the most followed games in football this week, as the two local rivals collided at the RCDE Stadium.

There were many who followed the game closely, including Fisnik Asllani, the Hoffenheim striker who has been linked with a move to Barcelona in recent months.

Asllani confirmed his attendance at the RCDE Stadium by posting a photo on Instagram, with the caption, “Barcelona derby.”

This comes just days after the striker met former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez in Qatar, with the player even posting a story on Instagram.

Frank Asllani: A target for Barcelona

Asllani’s attendance in the Barcelona vs Espanyol game is particularly interesting as he is one of the club’s potential targets for the summer of 2026.

Formerly of the Union Berlin youth academy, Asllani has been a breakout star in the Bundesliga this term, racking up six goals in 15 matches.

Standing at 1.91m, Asllani has impressed onlookers with his aerial and physical dominance, which is coupled with his knack for finding himself in goalscoring positions.

The Kosovar is also quite versatile and is capable of operating as a left winger and even a secondary striker, making him an ideal modern-day forward.

Compared to other attacking options, Asllani is quite affordable as well, with the striker reportedly having a release clause worth around €25-29 million.

This makes him an ideal target for the Catalans, as they look to find a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

The Kosovar recently broke silence on his future amid links to Barcelona, admitting he is aware of the noise around his future.
