FC Barcelona are preparing for further changes in their attack ahead of the summer transfer window, with Robert Lewandowski increasingly expected to leave the club once the season concludes.

The Catalan side does not want to be caught off guard and has intensified its search for a new striker who can lead the line under Hansi Flick.

One familiar name has resurfaced in recent days. Italian media report that Marcus Thuram is once again on Barcelona’s radar as a potential successor to Lewandowski.

According to CalcioMercato (h/t SPORT), Barcelona would be open to negotiating with Inter Milan for the French forward, who is under contract until 2028 and is currently valued at around €60 million by Transfermarkt.

Transfer market expert Ekrem Konur has also recently highlighted Thuram as an option for Barcelona if the club decides to prioritise experience rather than a purely developmental profile. However, he stressed that Inter have no intention of making his exit easy and would only consider offers starting closer to €80 million.

This is not the first time Thuram has been associated with La Blaugrana. In the summer of 2023, when he was approaching the end of his contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach, his name was repeatedly offered to Barcelona.

The club ultimately opted for a younger profile in Vitor Roque. There is also a strong emotional link, as Thuram spent time around the club during his youth while his father, Lilian Thuram, was a Barcelona player.

Competition for his signature would be fierce. European heavyweights such as Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring his situation, aware that Inter would prefer to keep one of their key attacking assets.

At Inter, Thuram remains an indispensable figure under Christian Chivu, just as he was during Simone Inzaghi’s tenure. The 28-year-old has established himself as the main attacking partner to Lautaro Martínez in a side that is leading Serie A and still competing in the Champions League and the Coppa Italia.

This season, he has registered 12 goals and five assists across all competitions, respectable numbers even if they sit behind Martínez’s stronger scoring record.

Barcelona have already witnessed Thuram’s impact firsthand. In last season’s Champions League semi-final first leg, he stunned the Catalans by scoring for Inter in the opening minute.

Whether that moment proves a prelude to a future move remains uncertain, but Barcelona’s sporting offices continue to work intensively as they shape the next phase of the club’s attack.
